Samsung Galaxy has been quite successful in the market for its performance and Samsung is soon coming with another killer phone , The Galaxy II. This would undoubtedly be a serious competitor to Apple’s iPhone. Already packing much hype and media attention, Samsung Galaxy II could well be the upcoming trend in the smart phone market. Apple is turning its sights to Samsung

With Apple’s patent-infringement case against HTC underway in an International Trade Commission (ITC) court, the iPhone maker has filed a new legal claim against smartphone and tablet rival Samsung, the Wall Street Journal reported April 18. In a 38-page lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court of Northern California, Apple alleges that the look, packaging and user interfaces of Samsung’s smartphones and tablets too closely copy the Apple iPhone and iPad.
“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smartphone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products,” Apple claims in the lawsuit, according to the Journal.
Samsung, however, is not taking Apple’s accusations lightly. In a statement, Samsung claims its planning to take “counter-action” against Apple, according to the AFP news services.
“Samsung will respond actively to this legal action taken against us through appropriate legal measures to protect our intellectual property,” according to Samsung’s April 19 statement.
Apple has been a leader in the smartphone and tablet markets, setting the bar in the former and outright establishing the latter. With sales rising and revenues skyrocketing — Strategy Analytics expects tablet revenue alone to reach billion by 2015 — Apple is lashing out against rivals it believes are finding success on its coattails.
Apple currently has patent-infringement suits filed against smartphone giants Nokia, HTC and Motorola, among others.
Complicating the lawsuit against Samsung is that the company is additionally a parts manufacturer, and Apple is one of its major customers.
According to regulatory filings, 4 percent of Samsung’s 2010 revenue — or approximately billion — came from Apple, which purchases microchips and memory chips from the South Korean company, the Journal reported. According to an April 15 report from tech site AnandTech, some Apple MacBook Air models have recently been found to be running solid-state drives (SSDs) from Samsung, instead of the Toshiba SSDs that the super-lightweight notebooks debuted with. One possibility is that Apple made the switch following the recent disasters in Japan, where Toshiba and other manufacturers have suffered damages to their factories or faced logistics getting materials into and out of the country.
Samsung says it has been developing its own core technologies and intellectual property portfolio, according to the AFP report, which added that Korea’s Yonhap news agency has cited an unidentified Samsung official as saying, “Apple is one of our key buyers of semiconductors and display panels. The form factor of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablet — like many other iPad competitors — appears to vary only slightly from Apple’s iPad and iPad 2. But the lawsuit, says the Journal, points to Samsung mimicking Apple in also unnecessary ways, such as by depicting its products’ photo library with a sunflower logo, as Apple does.

Apple MacBook Air Laptops Sport Samsung SSDs
When Apple revised its new line of MacBook Air laptops in October 2010, it included solid-state drives (SSDs) made by Toshiba. Yet a recent finding has discovered a new drive has been circulating in the Air laptop that appears to be made by Samsung and has 20% to 25% faster read and write speeds.
While Apple did not return calls or verify the existence of a replacement drive, a drive model reading SM128C, which is believed to be a Samsung SSD, has been found in newer MacBook Air laptops by AnandTech. According to AnandTech’s test of the drives, the SM128C drive has a read speed of 261.1 MB per second and a write speed of 209.6 MBps, which are 24% and 19% faster, respectively, than the Toshiba drive. The SM128C also supports native command queuing, AnandTech reported. These performance figures, as well as the “SM” in the model name, are in line with the performance of the Samsung 470 series SSDs. Samsung’s 470 series drives are available in 256 GB and 128 GB versions. Samsung details a 250 MBps read rate and 220 MBps write rate, along with 0.24 watts active power consumption and 0.14W when idle.
Toshiba’s Blade X-gale is no slouch either, with a maximum read speed of 220 MBps and a maximum write speed of 180 MBps. The 64 GB and 128 GB models weigh 0.35 of an ounce, while 256 GB version weighs 0.47 of an ounce. It is also 42% thinner than the typical mSATA SSD used in portable computers.
If the SSD found in the new MacBook Air is indeed Samsung, it questions the competition Samsung has created between its Samsung Series 9 laptop and the MacBook Air. Samsung claims its laptop, which contains the Samsung 470 128-GB SSD, is slightly lighter than the Macbook Air.
Apple introduced the MacBook Air in October 2010 as the smallest and thinnest computer on the market. The Air and Samsung Series 9 laptop use SSDs instead of hard disk drives (HDDs) to provide instant-on capabilities, faster performance, and longer apple laptop battery life. However, SSDs are also much more expensive and generally have less capacity than HDDs.Regardless of which drive you may find in the new MacBook Air, the speed difference isn’t significant and so far no confirmation exists regarding whether the SSD is indeed Samsung. I just bought the samsung impression this week, while, i am trying to move some music mp3 files from Itunes music libery to my samsung impression cell phones. but i can not figur out how i can put the purchased muisic onto my phones..

As the music in iTunes is encrypted with DRM, you cannot directly put it on any non-Apple MP3 player. The easiest way is:
1. Insert a CD-R or CD-RW disc into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Burn your playlist to make an audio CD.
3. After the audio CD is successfully burned, insert the disc into your CD-ROM drive again. Then you can use iTunes to import the music tracks on the burned disc as MP3 files.

“The phone is great, especially since it can do everything that the Eternity could do (including the virtual keyboard, which is actually better on the impression). It includes more widgets, and I especially like the favorites widget which makes it easy to call your Favs.The Lock Button is hard to use because it is located on the slide out keyboard and it pushes out the keyboard when you go to lock the device. Probably would be better to make it a Push to lock instead of a hold. Personally I think the lock button should have remained on the top right like the Eternity but Im sure Ill adjust. The slide out keyboard is amazing and really easy to type on. It was definitely a mistake to assign the comma as a Fn key, I use commas all the time. Camera seems better than the eternity for some reason. Still lacks speed dial. Icons are better looking and the main menu icons are in better locations. New games and apps menu and tweaked multitask key are good. Cant wait until they release the SDK for widgets. Its not too bulky, and I was surprised that the keyboard did not take up much space. Its almost the same thickness as the eternity.”
